48 Channel Expanded EMF16
Maximum expansion is 96 channels.
Cost per channel drops as channel
count increases.

OVERVIEW

The EMF16 is a high-resolution, high input impedance, data acquisition system for electrochemistry applications. It connects to a PC serial port for presentation and storage of EMF data. The optional software is written by electrochemists for electrochemistry. It allows up to 16 channels of data to be scanned and displayed, and saved to the disk in real time. The EMF16 is built around our proven 24-bit A/D system. The DC specifications are much better than those of most pH meters. Linearity is 0.002% of full scale, input impedance is 1013 ohms, reproducibility is better than one part per million. BNC connectors are provided for the 16 buffered inputs and for the buffered reference electrode. All inputs are protected against overvoltage. Three measuring modes are selectable via a front-panel switch. Further flexibility is provided through software configuration.

The EMF 16 was developed cooperatively with ETH in Switzerland in 1999 to interface with Ion Selective Electrodes (ISEs). The high channel count, high input impedance interface has since proved generally useful for electrochemistry. The EMF16 is in use in over 20 countries around the world and is cited regularly in published research.

The EMF16 is supplied as a complete multichannel ISE interface system including the interface box and Windows software, serial cable, and power supply.

After download, copy archive to folder on your hard-drive, extract, and run from there.

Help is available by running "EMF Suite Help.chm" after extracting the archive, or by using the "help" in the menu. Note that if it fails to run once you think you've configured the device correctly, try lowering the BAUD from 9600 to 4800.

OPTIONAL L-EMF-DAC 3.0 Software

Under Win7 and above, it is imperative that the installation program, SETUP.EXE, is run as administrator. Simply having administrator rights is not enough.

You must right click on the Setup file and select "run as administrator" from the menu.

Once installed, you may also need to run the application as administrator, by right-clicking the app and choosing the option to "run as administrator."

INSTRUCTION  SUPPLEMENT  for  EMF16

Installation Instructions for L-EMF-DAC software.:

Under Win7 and above, it is imperative that the installation program, SETUP.EXE, is run as administrator. Simply having administrator rights is not enough.

You must right click on the Setup file and select "run as administrator" from the menu.

If you are reinstalling after a failed installation, right click the UNINSTALL utility and choose "run as administrator", then repeat the installation, as above.

Once installed, you may also need to run the application as administrator, by right-clicking the app and choosing the option to "run as administrator."

There are three grounding options selected by the mode switch above our logo:

DIFF is the best, for pure differential measurements. In the  DIFF  positions,  you  *must*  add a third connection to the solution. Use a separate wire to connect the solution to the  COMMON  terminal or   BNC  connector.

For  SAFE  and  COMMON  positions,  do not use the third wire.  In these cases,  the reference input is connected internally to the common. The Safe mode protects the hardware against severe overvoltage and may be just a bit noiser as a result.  The  SAFE  and  COMMON  POSITIONS  can have the effect of lowering the input impredance on the reference side.

The input impedance is  1013  at room temperature.  Input current is typically 3 picoamps.  A  1015  version is available as an option.  An 8 channel differential option is also available.

For more information about the internal function of the  EMF16,   refer to the Model 201 Manual.  The  16 EMF  channels are addressed at analog input channel number zero,  external sub-channels 0 through 15.

NOTE:  For demanding applications,  you may want to consider the free Model 201  graphics software  at our web site.
